Tools Tier List

Ranking BLOODMONEY: Requiem's shop tools depends entirely on what you're optimizing for. A tool that's excellent for a fast, morally unrestricted run can be a tool you're not even allowed to touch if you want the Good Ending. This list ranks the shop twice, once for each goal, using the actual cost and payout numbers from the Items & Shop Guide.

Moral Run Tier List

For a Good Ending attempt, only four tools are legal at all, so this tier list is really about which of the four to lean on.

TierToolWhy
SFeatherCheapest entry point into the shop and the fastest of the safe tools to pay for itself (see the breakeven math below)
ANeedleMeaningful payout jump once you can afford it, still fully safe
BHammerHighest payout you can take without losing the Good Ending — the natural endpoint of a moral run
Scissors and beyondNot applicable — buying any of these ends the moral run immediately

Speed / Cash Route Tier List

For players chasing $25,000 as fast as possible with no restrictions, the useful measure is how many clicks it takes a tool to pay back its own cost — cost ÷ payout per click. A lower number means the tool earns back its price faster, leaving more of the run to bank pure profit at that rate.

TierToolBreakeven clicks
SFeather50 (100 ÷ 2)
ANeedle125 (500 ÷ 4)
BKnife156 (10,000 ÷ 64)
CHammer, Scissors, Match188 (all three tie exactly)
DGunNot calculable — no per-click payout is reported, only the ending it unlocks

The tie between Hammer, Scissors and Match is a genuine quirk of the shop's numbers, not a rounding artifact — all three cost exactly 187.5 times their payout. The Knife breaks that pattern and actually pays back faster than the three tools before it, which is part of why players report the late shop feeling like it accelerates rather than just scaling evenly.

Is the Scissors purchase ever worth it purely for speed?

Economically, no better than the Hammer or Match it ties with — its advantage is narrative, not efficiency. See All Endings Explained for what it actually unlocks.

Whichever tier list you're optimizing against, the numbers land the same way for everyone: the Feather is the efficient start, the Hammer is the last safe stop, and everything past the Scissors is a story decision dressed up as a shop purchase.
